Meet the band

Graffiti Classics was founded in 1997 by Cathal O'Duill. Whilst street-performing in London's Covent Garden, he realised that classical music could be made fun for anyone through interaction and comedy. Since then, Graffiti has developed its show as a unique and refreshing alternative to the stuffy and elitist perception of classical music by making it fun and accessible for everyone, whatever their age or musical inclination!

Graffiti Classics has a large international following, having performed regularly across the globe in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Tunisia, Sweden, Holland, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Graffiti's versatile show provides the ideal entertainment at a huge variety of events, with appearances ranging from festivals, cruise-ships and concert halls to prisons, hospitals and schools; from weddings and parties to theatres and corporate events.

Cathal O Duill

Cathal spends most of his time explaining to people how to pronounce his name! For those who aren't sure, try saying CarHul and you should be close! Irish born and bred, he comes from a very musical family. His late father, Breandan, was a well known tv and radio actor, whose love of performing Cathal has inherited. He started out as a chorister but soon took up the double bass and the rest is history! Cathal is proud of all that Graffiti has achieved so far and has big plans for Graffiti's global domination - but, first things first, he has got to get married to his beauitful fiancée!!!

Ruth Elder

Ruth was born at a very young age and grew up in Wales where she was surrounded by music and sheep, so for her it was always a choice between becoming a musician or a vet. After finding out sheep could not be trained to sing in three part harmony she realised her true calling and moved to London where she took to the stage. Ruth has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the National Theatre and even entertained Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. With Graffiti Classics she has travelled near and far joining them in their quest to make the world a better place through music, laughter, fun and frolics!

Emma Blanco

Emma has been on the fiddle since the age of 7, having dreamed of playing the violin since she was 2 years old. She splits her time between travelling the world with Graffiti, working with other Classical and Latin musical projects, and teaching talented youngsters at Westminster Cathedral. Emma spends a large portion of her time being ultra-organised and being made fun of by the rest of Graffiti for her frequent stresses over when and where performances are happening! Emma feels blessed to be doing something she loves all the time and hopes that one day she will stop throwing shoes off her feet into the audience at Graffiti Classics’ shows.

Stephen Kennedy

Steve was surrounded by music from as early as he can remember. He used to be lulled to sleep by the sound of his mother playing Chopin on the piano. When he started playing the theme from Batman, off his own bat at the age of three, his Mum decided to give him piano lessons. Before long he became one of those talented individuals at Westminster Cathedral that Emma now teaches. He went on to study at the Royal Northern College and Royal Scottish Academy of Music. He now tries to fit in as much music making as possible. When he's not touring the world with Graffiti, he's doing it with Westminster Cathedral Choir or Tenebrae (Chamber Choir) or any other group willing to book him
